The Story of Conservative Deep Thinkery (For Siri! ) Gather ’round everyone, and I’ll tell you another campfire story. Now as’n you know, we already don’ tol’ the story ’bout how Jesus wrote the 2nd ‘Mendment, and the one ’bout how Barney Frank single handedly done crashed the economy right under the nose of the Republicans who actually controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency (while wearing his fabilous blue sequin time machine dress), but now….now it’s time to do a little hist’ry talkin’. Now we gonna go back in time to the 1960’s (can you b’lieve them poor suckers didn’t have no internet? Well, I mean, it kinda existed, but not really, and nobody really knew about it). Way back then is when …Wait! Don’t stop there!
So I’ve been putting some thought to it, and analyzing what we’ve seen from the R’s since I’ve been hanging out on sites like The Daily Beast. Here are my conclusions, for what they are worth (R’s…you’ll probably find these worthless…everybody else, you might get something useful out of them). …Wait! Don’t stop there!
Was chatting/lurking on The Daily Beast and ran across this gem. It’s from a poster calling himself “Constitutional Rights,” and perfectly encapsulates everything that’s wrong with conservative economic thinking today (sadly, he did not venture into social topics, but I’d love to hear his “well considered” opinions (stated as iron …Wait! Bottom line: The Republican party as it is currently configured, even by the reckoning of its own members, is dumbing itself down. See here and here. These aren’t lilly livered libtards…these are well respected members of the conservative movement (well, formerly, in Frum’s case…he committed the heresy of not marching …Wait! Don’t stop there!
Tried my hand at making one, and rather enjoyed the process! I think I’ll be doing more of this in the days and weeks ahead, but wanted to give a shout out to DeVel’s Workshop, whose resources were employed in the making of my first effort! Enjoy…Things Republicans Hope You …Wait! Don’t stop there!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Republican policies are awful. Not just, “man, that sucks” awful, but train-wreck-in-slow-motion, spectacularly awful to the point of shaking America to her very foundations awful. Don’t believe me? Consider: * Republican boilerplate policies are to drastically scale back regulations in the …Wait! Don’t stop there!
First, let me define “The Fox Bubble.” This is the alternate universe that conservatives have set up for themselves, and includes various right wing media properties (Fox “News” being the flagship) that reinforce right wing talking points by spinning news stories to present conservatives in the best possible light, demonize …Wait! Here’s a random sampling of what conservatives were saying in conversations on the eve of the 2012 Presidential election: Country Girl: “November can’t come soon enough!” Wisconsinite: “Romney in November and taking the Senate.” Gear4War: “beat the Dems senseless come November.” Houston_Forensics: “Obama will lose” Dallas J.: “the end of …Wait! Of all the various conspiracies invoked by the Conservatives, this one is the Big Kahuna. It’s so commonplace…so ingrained into their way of thinking that they simply accept it as fact…without thought or question, no longer even realizing that every time they say “MSM,” “Main Stream Media,” or the variant …Wait! This makes for a nice compilation of all the hatred and bat-shit nuttery coming from the right these days. God Bless ALL Americans…not just the ones I like personally, and God Bless the President, who has to survive in this swamp of ignorance and hatred. -=Vel=- What do you think …Wait! Don’t stop there!
In 1996, one of the Guiding Lights, and “Deep Conservative Thinkerers,” Newt Gingrich, outlined a strategy and a fundamental need for the Republicans to control language in order to win the war of ideas and exert control. You can find a copy of his memo here, and in the event …Wait! Don’t stop there!
