You can never catch liberals, wrapped up in hatred for America, in a lie. Not because they don’t lie; they do that more often than Imelda Marcos buys shoes! But rather because they simply either claim that what they said was not what they said or that the facts are not the facts.

You might be familiar with the Jedi Mind Trick? You know, where a jedi calmly waves his hand and speaks softly a command that is then humbly followed? Well, liberals are not strong with the Force but they are strong with the “Marx” (as in Karl Marx) and do have their own version of this. It’s called the old Liberal Mind Trick.

Here’s how it works. When caught in a lie, in which they are wholly invested, liberals don’t talk softly and move smoothly. Rather they start thrashing their arms wildly and yelling loudly. I know, not quite as subtle is it?

The old Liberal Mind Trick is purely a distraction designed as a defensive posture to protect left-wingers as you beat them over the head with the facts. This allows their fellow travelers and other assorted useful idiots time to move the goal posts back another ten yards, get to the cameras and establish a new set of talking points, find one person (usually anonymous) that they can pass off as credible to agree with them, edit blog entries, shred documents, etc. while you aren’t looking. It’s all in the effort to try desperately to make you believe them again.

And like most of what liberals do it is just a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Then they tout their new and modified position as what they REALLY meant all along and blame evil conservatives, the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy or the Republican Attack Machine for misquoting them and distorting what they said.

Just watch liberals work their “magic” on newly declassified information (which had to be pried out of the grubby little hands of entrenched bureaucrat by the way) documenting that WMDs have officially been found in Iraq. This of course goes completely counter to the liberal mantra of (and forgive me for the caps lock but I am parroting shouting liberals after all) “BUSH LIED! PEOPLE DIED! THERE ARE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ!

Luckily for the left (or so they think) they have quickly received some help from the entrenched bureaucracy at the Defense Department which is not denying the content of the documents. Nor are they even denying that they have indeed found Sarin and Mustard Gas. Oh no. Rather they are saying simply that these found WMDs were “not the WMDs for which the country went to war.” (source: [http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/6/22/101414.shtml?s=ic])


The Defense Department further claimed that the WMDs for which the country went to war for were two specific WMDs named Robert and Sarah and were contained in munitions that were purple with pink polka dots. The Defense Department said that while all 500 of the munitions that have been found were all named Robert and Sarah they were in normally colored, olive drab munitions and clearly not the right ones.

I’m sorry folks but this statement by the Defense Department is down right idiotic! Time to hop into the old time machine here and accurately review history.

FACT: Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, and promptly got an ass whopping by the United States and a coalition of other nations. But mostly it was the United States, Great Britain, Australia along with a few other serious countries. However most involved were just glory hounds along for the ride that did not give one rat’s ass about what Iraq had done.

FACT: In order to be spared a further ass whopping Saddam agreed to a cease-fire agreement which, in part, contained provisions that he give up ALL of his weapons of mass destruction as well as his programs for developing them and verify that he had done so. And I’ll quote from Paragraph 8:

“Iraq shall unconditionally accept the destruction, removal, or rendering harmless, under international supervision, of:

(a) All chemical and biological weapons and all stocks of agents and all related subsystems and components and all research, development, support and manufacturing facilities;”

Note it says nothing about only specific biological weapons created after a certain time or other such tripe. It clearly says “all”.

FACT: For 12 years the world pussy footed around and Saddam ran UN inspectors all over the place before the United Nations told Saddam to stop, disarm or face consequences.

FACT: Saddam thumbed his nose at the United Nations (which incidentally is something I wish the United States would do as well) and failed to verify his compliance. Please note the role of the inspectors was NOT to hunt for Saddam’s weapons but only to verify that he was destroying them.

FACT: Saddam violated the terms of the cease-fire. The end result was the United States along with other nations with actual balls between their legs resumed the war to end what was started in 1991. This is, after all, what happens when one side violates a cease-fire agreement.

Oh, and it is also important to note that it was the United Nations that declared Iraq in violation of the agreement, not the United States.

So what happened? Well the left couldn’t oppose the war on the grounds that Iraq wasn’t a humanitarian nightmare run by a brutal dictator who murdered his own people (i.e. gassing the Kurds). Heck, they are still trying desperately to shed the image of being appeasers of dictators and tyrants. Something that would be much easier mind you if they would actually stop appeasing dictators and tyrants!

So as soon as WMDs were not immediately found within five minutes of entering Iraq the left picked that horse and decided to ride it until it’s legs fell off. Well, the legs of that horse officially fell off because the mantra of “Saddam had NO weapons of mass destruction” was proven utterly false because a few are not afraid to keep pushing the issue.

The left’s new spin? “Well, yeah he had WMDs but not the ones we thought he had! BUSH STILL LIED! PEOPLE STILL DIED! BUSH STILL LIED! PEOPLE STILL DIED!” But the truth of the matter is they are not strong enough with the spirit of Marx to pull off this lame mind trick.

It is sad how easily the left deludes itself into thinking that they are actually winning this battle. The problem with the Liberal Mind Trick is that it only works on their fellow travelers and other assorted useful idiots and not the vast majority of people.
